Song I totally forgot about

Whist Pod-surfing, I came across an album I just recently included in the 'others of note' section on my 1994 Grammy post. Kerosene Hat by Cracker... I knew I owned the album, but I don't think I've listened to it in at least 10 years... As a result, I remembered the songs Low, Rockstar, and Loser, but completely forgot about Get Off This, which was actually released as a single, and got some moderate radio airplay. My point is this, I completely forgot the song existed, but as soon as it started, I knew the whole damn thing and can vividly remember hearing it play on the radio... Isn't that creepy? Yet another reason I dig music... It makes your brain do funny things, but in a far less demented way than those disembodied voices do... Go fig...

I did the same thing with Soul Asylum's "Let Your Dim Light Shine" on my trip north last month...I hadn't listened to it since college, but it's awesome, and every track was great.

Is there no love for the Soul Asylum here? Or is it simply overlooked?

I enjoyed Soul Asylum's Grave Dancer's Union, but didn't continue to listen to them past that... Not sure why, a big fat mistake on my part it sounds like... As far as not including them in any of the lists, it's a snowball effect... When I was putting the 1992 list together, I was trying to limit it to 'really' cool albums, and then by 1994 I was listen pretty much everything that didn't reek, but since I didn't include GDU in 1992, I couldn't very well include future Soul Asylum works elsewhere without it being a silent indictment of an album I genuinely enjoyed... There's a handful of things I would have changed about these posts year over year if I would have written them all at once, but I live, and therefore I learn... I guess I could go back and amend, but I'm getting burnt out on the string anyhow, so I'd prefer to ignore my mistakes and defend them as just to my last dying day... That is the code of blogdom is it not?

Kerosine hat is the shizzle, it is easily one of my very favorite albums of the 90's. The best song on it though is "Eurotrash Girl"
